To install KnightX,
You must have a zip file archiver like "WinZip" or "Pkzip for Windows".
Double-click on the file Techno_177.zip from the windows explorer, extract all the files into a new directory (for exemple C:\Knightx)

To install Winboard,
Double-click on the file Winboard-4_2_1.exe from the windows explorer.
Follow the instructions given by the setup program.

Create a new shortcut on the windows desktop.
Select the file Winboard.exe for the shortcut's command line. Select this file from the installation directory of Winboard.
Set the starting directory as the installation directory of Winboard.
Edit the properties of the shortcut, and add these options at the end of the command line:

/cp /fcp Knightx177 /fd C:\Knightx

Click Ok, now just double-click on the shortcut and play with KnightX.

Note: The names Techno_177, Knightx177, Winboard-4_2_1 may change as new versions are available.
replace C:\Knightx by the directory name you have chosen.
